hearts entwined (SCAL 2)

I was reading a book about card making last night and saw a design that I loved.  Of course, there was no pattern or cutting file, just the idea.  So I thought, time to use my imagination and my Cricut. In order to do that, I first had to make use of SCAL 2.

I have to admit that I never really loved Inkscape.  The whole thing about creating files on that software seemed clunky and too complicated.  SCAL 2 has many of the same capabilities and is SO much easier to use.

I expanded upon the idea and created a panel of hearts within circles.  Hearts and circles have always fascinated me, mostly because of their geometric properties.  The combination proved irresistible.  Here is what I came up with.

I’ve grouped the elements in the file so it will cut as one piece.  You can size it as you like, but I wouldn’t suggest cutting it much smaller than 4 inches square.

In order to be successful with this project, you should have a sharp blade and a sticky mat.  When you cut this, please be very careful when removing it from your cutting mat.  Some of the parts of this design are very narrow.

I’ve also included a mat that fits the piece just right, and you can adhere the panel to it and create a lovely card decoration.  Here it is:

Since Valentine’s Day is getting close, I wanted to post this for you as soon as I did the test cuts.  Soon, I’ll show you what I do with these files.  In the meantime, please help yourself to the files by clicking on the link below:
